Taylor Swift on Brad Paisley

During an interview with the LA Times, Taylor Swift said she learned the do’s and don’ts of touring from Brad Paisley when she opened for him in 2007. She was excited to go on tour with him, but was even more impressed that he bought her album in order to decide if she was the right girl for the job. “He could’ve gotten a free copy from anyone, or just made the decision based on my single doing well at radio,” she said. While on the tour, Taylor became ill one evening and had to cut a performance short. However, Brad didn’t even sweat it. He showed sympathy by paying her for the concert the following night she was too ill to perform. Taylor tries to display the same attitude toward her openers on her current Fearless Tour. “…he taught me that having a genuine, honest career starts with being a genuine, honest person.”
